"Perpetual Care" usually refers to the correct terms Permanent Care or Endowment Care. These Care funds are collected with each Interment Space sale to maintain the grounds, roads, and buildings of the cemetery.

Many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that the ground will not sink. Either a grave liner or a burial vault will satisfy these requirements. At Russellville Oakland Cemetery, you must purchase a vault or ridged grave liner.  You do this when pre-planning or at time of need with your funeral home services director.

Yes. Russellville Oakland Cemetery requires the services of a licensed and insured funeral home/service. The provision of more traditional funeral services (such as embalming, casket selections, visitation and the rental of vehicles for a procession to the cemetery, mausoleum or crematorium) is only available from funeral homes.

A columbarium, often located within a mausoleum, chapel or in a garden setting, is constructed with numerous small compartments (niches) designed to hold urns containing cremated remains. The Memorial Garden in Russellville Oakland Cemetery contains a freestanding Columbarium “tower”.

Not always. Of course, you’ll be able to see what areas in the cemetery are already occupied by graves, and you’ll know they’re not available. But even areas that appear unoccupied might be unavailable — because they may have already been reserved by others who have done their own pre-planning.

If it’s important to you that you be buried in a specific place, we suggest pre-planning purchases to ensure the burial will take place in that exact spot.

We currently offer in-ground grave spaces for casket interment as well as an area of smaller grave spaces exclusively for cremation.  Raised monuments are permitted on MOST all grave spaces. There are a few exceptions when cremation interments are at the foot of an occupied grave space, and within the Mary Rye Campbell Addition. This area is for cremation burials only and the markers are required to be flat or flush with the ground due to proximity to the roadway.  Speak with the Director for further information.

Just like other open spaces, cemeteries are impacted by increased population density in both urban and rural areas. Cemetery spaces are a finite resource, and as such, are at a premium in some regions.
