About Us

Russellville Arkansas is a unique community, sitting between the Ozark and Ouachita National Forest, along the Arkansas River and Interstate 40. Russellville spans a 30 square mile area and is the home to Arkansas Tech University and Arkansas Nuclear One. The City of Russellville carries a Class 2 Public Protection Classification (PPC) from the Insurance Services Office (ISO). 


RFD responds to over 4500 calls annually while providing emergency services which include fire suppression, emergency medical services, ALS (advanced life support) ambulance transport, hazardous material mitigation services at the technician level and special operations (confined space, swift water, high angle) at the rescue technician level. Since its inception in 1905, the Department has grown to 58 uniform personnel and 4 stations. 


The Department also operates the Fire, Building & Safety Division which includes fire investigations, building plan reviews, special permitting, fire and building inspections, code enforcement, public education and outreach, and media relations.
